They quickly fall in love and exchange fantasies of running away together. After her parents catch them, they announce they're turning Michael in for a new model. Quinn must decide whether or not she should abandon her family and everything she's ever known to pursue her love with a machine. Livy cleared “Love is Here” by The Futures for this terrific short.
SHADOWS is an intimate portrait of the fragile chapter where a girl faces womanhood. The film follows Naya, a high school girl who learns the true price of freedom when tensions rise with her older brother who has recently returned home from prison. The filmmakers are a multi-cultural female creative team & as collaborators with distinct American identities, our film shines a light on families who are often left in the shadows based on race, religion and class, but deserve to be heroes in our stories. This short was selected for Tribeca Film Festival, and will also be distributed by HBO.
Mouthpiece is a short film directed by Violett Beane and Sophia Ali. What starts off as a seemingly harmless birthday dinner turns into an exploration of the human psyche. In this film, Livy cleared a big kahuna of a song, “That’s Life,” by the great Frank Sinatra.
When Theodora's boyfriend Luca is set to be released from the institution where they are both admitted, she escapes with him and tries to re-traumatize him so he remains under her control. They end up at his childhood home where a knock on the door sends them spiraling into a confusing night of games and manipulation rooted in lies, insecurity, and fear. Livy cleared some memorable 90s tunes for this feature.
Making its debut at Tribeca, Three Headed Beast is a poetic exploration of love and suppressed communication. Peter and Nina are a long term couple navigating a healthy and comfortable open relationship. Alex is a young man still figuring out adult life who has formed an intense connection with Peter. Their individual fears, desires and loneliness collide over a hot Texas summer. Livy cleared music from the late Mort Garson, from Barbara Mandrell, and many more.
Good Jazz Back to You is a collection of short portraits that spotlights five female jazz instrumentalists each at a distinct stage in their musicianship. This eclectic batch of musicians spans five distinct generations. The women play separate instruments, gravitate toward unique sub-scenes, and follow varied lives as their levels of fame, proficiency, and opportunity differ. In each film, we juxtapose the complexities that fester at various stages of a jazz musician’s career and observe how evolving historical times affect them. Livy cleared some of the greatest, most classic Jazz hits for this project.
Hill Country Stories is an anthology of short stories set in Austin, TX. Each story follows a new protagonist(s) as they navigate through conflict and deal with the cards life dealt them. Austin serves as a character in its own right throughout the entirety of the anthology, accompanied by the colorful and rich sounds of country, rock, and hip hop.
The Sterling sisters and their once close-knit group of friends reunite for a weekend at the family ranch in small town Texas before it's sold. Long simmering conflicts come to a head as they confront the uncertainty of their lives without the connection of home to bind each other. In this film, Livy cleared 18 indie rock songs from artists such as Conan Gray, Samia, CAAMP, Slaughter Beach Dog, Grady Strange, Worn-Tin, Wet, Bedouine, Sonny Smith, and more.
Livy worked on the music for Sin City II: A Dame to Kill For. She assisted composer Carl Thiel, who scores many of Robert Rodriguez’s projects. For Sin City II, she issued and secured contracts from collaborators to ensure proper copyright-clearance of music recordings. Additionally, the studio received hundreds of music submissions regularly, and she would organize the music and categorize it into a library according to mood, tempo, and which scene type the music would fit into for the film.
Before Dreamboat’s inception, Livy worked for famous music supervisor Randall Poster in New York City. She helped cast actors to portray famous rock, disco, and hiphop artists for HBO’s 70’s rock drama: Vinyl. She also tracked down copyright owners for popular music of the 70’s to use on the show.
While working for Randall Poster, Livy researched music and rights-holders for the songs that were to be featured in Richard Linklater’s film. The film was set in 1979 as a sequel to Dazed and Confused, so the soundtrack consisted of over forty songs from that era.
Livy worked on the first season of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series. She issued and secured contracts from collaborators to ensure proper copyright-clearance of music recordings for the show.
Hydro Soul is a documentary filmed in Thailand about the exotic, fun world of hydro Jetpacks, and Jetblades. The doc features an upbeat, happy, sunny soundtrack that was copyright-cleared with Livy’s musical assistance whilst working with music supervisor Jackie Otero.
Big Kids is a YouTube web-series about a group of friends trying to have one last fun summer of being young, while navigating the pressures and problems of transitioning into adulthood. Livy music supervised this web-series.
